MacGregor MACTEC Driver With the MACTEC Driver, MacGregor has created a number of breakthrough technologies that help golfers of all skill levels launch the ball higher with less spin for more distance, while offering substantial forgiveness. When it comes to distance, two Beta Titanium inserts are better than one. MacGregor designed a proprietary technology that is the world’s first insertion of a very strong, lightweight 15-3-3-3 Beta Titanium crown into the heavier 6-4 Titanium body. Only .4mm thin, this Beta Titanium crown insert shifts weight from the highest portion of the clubhead into the sole, thereby dramatically lowering CG and generating low spin, high launch characteristics, plus the added benefits of power and feedback that only Beta Titanium can deliver. Leaving no technological advantage unrealized, the MacGregor R&D team has strategically placed four Tungsten weights in the MACTEC clubhead. 8 and 6 gram Tungsten weights in the heel help create low, deep CG which optimizes launch and draw bias properties. Dual 2.5 gram Tungsten weights—one each in the extreme heel and toe—enhance MOI for more clubhead stability and accuracy. The MacGregor Quadra-Action proprietary three-bend-point, four-zone shaft is designed to maximize performance in concert with the volume and CG properties of the MACTEC NVG driver clubhead. Firmer zones store energy and soft zones release energy for more distance with no additional effort. Varied thickness, stiffness and strand orientation of the graphite in four distinct regions to (from grip to clubhead) generate, load, stabilize and release more energy to increase clubhead speed, resulting in greater distance and more accuracy. For example, in controlled robotic testing where swing-speeds are set at 80-90 mph, the combination of the Quadra-Action shaft and NVG driver clubhead consistently add 3 mph of clubhead speed.
